Overview

Osaka is Japan's second largest metropolitan area after T0kyo. It has been the economic center of the Kansai Region for many centuries. In the 16th century, a samurai named Toyotomi unified Japan and built his castle in Osaka which is Osaka Castle you will visit in this tour. Once Osaka was called "the city of water" because many canals and rivers stretch around the city. You will enjoy the city view by a river cruise.  The city has two commercial hubs in the south and the north. Both are Osaka's shopping, dining and entertainment centers.  This tour cover both of them to visit. From the observation deck on the top of Umeda Sky Building, you can look out over the cityscape of the north district called "Kita". In the south district called "Minami", you will taste Osaka's soul foods.

Detailed Itinerary

Meet at Osaka Station and take a subway to Osaka Castle. Osaka castle was originally built in the 16th century, but burnt down several times. The current castle tower is the reconstruction in 1962 and converted into a museum. You will learn about the history of the castle and the founder's life. Samurai armors and swords are exhibited there.  The charm of this castle is magnificent stone walls surrounding the castle. They were built in the 17th century and still stand today. Afterwards, you are going to take a 1-hour river cruise、Aqualiner. Fantastic view of Osaka's attractions from the water must please your eyes. Next stop is Dontonbori area where you can enjoy Osaka's soul foods and the backstreet atmosphere.  Please try Okonomiyaki (Japanese non-sweet pancake), Kushikatsu (Deep fried vegetables and meets in skewers) and Takoyaki (Octopus ball). Then you will head back to Osaka Station and walk to Umeda Sky Building. The Floating Garden Observatory on the top of the building is a open-air platform offering panoramic views of the sity scape of Osaka. The architecture of the building itself is also very attractive. It was designed by one of the most famous architects in Japan, Hirosi Hara. The features of the architecture are modern and futuristic and it is said that the mid-air garden represented a space station where a spaceship had flown away.
